Mike & Melissa
Hi and welcome! We are Mike and Melissa, and our story starts a little over a decade ago when Mike was doing contract work for Melissa’s employer. After at least a month of only saying a polite “hello” in passing, we were the only two people in the break room one day, when a clock fell off the wall and sparked a conversation between us! We quickly became friends and started dating a year later, in 2009. After 2 years of dating, Mike proposed in a grand romantic gesture that included a private candlelit gazebo, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a serenade. In 2012, we were married in a small beach ceremony in front of our closest friends and family. In the six years since that day, we’ve had more ups than downs, more laughs than tears, and more joy than pain. We enjoy many of the same activities and do almost everything together. We love the outdoors, whether it’s hiking mountain trails with our dog or relaxing at the beach. We are adventurous and have a child-like enthusiasm to life. We love to try new things and have fun exploring new places!
Our road to adoption started all the way back in 2014 when we bought our first home. We knew it would be the perfect place to start a family. After a year and a half of trying to conceive we had doctors confirm that we have unexplained infertility. Over the course of the next year God began to show us His plan for starting our family. In just a few short months we saw friends, family members, and coworkers all grow their families through the blessing of adoption; this included Mike’s youngest brother and his wife adopting a beautiful son and daughter, making us “Uncle Mike” and “Aunt Melissa” for the first time! Seeing their joy, and others like them, opened our eyes to God’s plan, and our hearts became burdened to give a child a loving home through adoption. God has confirmed that plan over and over again in the last 12 months by giving our future child multiple play-mates! We have seen quite the baby boom in our immediate family, extended family, and close friends. We are so excited to start scheduling play-dates and begin this next chapter in our lives!
We are excited to welcome to our family a newborn boy or girl, through open, semi-open or closed adoption.
DEAR EXPECTANT MOTHER
We are so honored that you are taking the time to get to know us. We know that considering adoption is a very difficult choice, and we admire your strength, courage, and selflessness. Even though we have never met you, we, along with our family and friends, have been praying for you for a very long time. We pray that God guides you in this decision and gives you peace through this journey. We know that God has been directing our paths to each other for quite some time, and for that, we are so thankful! We want you to know that your baby will be in a loving Christian home, with parents that respect each other, respect Christ, and take our marriage vows seriously. Our promise to you is that we will take parenting just as seriously. We know that a relationship needs constant attention and love, whether it’s between a husband and wife or a parent and child. We want you to know that your child will be raised in a loving and fun environment, full of trips to the beach, walks in the park, and bed time stories. We will make sure they always know that they are a very special gift, and we will always honor the special place you hold in our lives. We can’t wait to become parents and are so excited to share our lives with a child! Thank you so much for considering us to raise and love your child.
Love, Mike & Melissa
